Frequently Asked
Questions

We know reaching out is hard. Here are the answers to the questions families and veterans ask us most.

About the Program

We treat alcohol and drug addiction including opioids, methamphetamine, cocaine, benzodiazepines, and prescription medications. Our programs are designed specifically for veterans, though we welcome all individuals who need help.

We offer 30-, 60-, and 90-day program lengths. The right duration depends on the individual — our intake team will recommend the best fit based on your history and needs. Many veterans benefit most from the full 90-day program.

Yes. Our residential detox program is staffed with licensed, certified substance abuse counselors and medical professionals available around the clock. Safety is our first priority during the detox process.

Our core programs are residential (inpatient) — meaning you live on-site during treatment. This structure is intentional: removing veterans from their environment is often critical to breaking the cycle of addiction.

Eligibility & Insurance

Our programs are designed for veterans, but we may be able to accommodate non-veterans depending on availability. Contact us directly to discuss your situation.

We accept all major insurance plans including Medi-Cal, Medicare, most private insurance, and self-pay / private pay. We will work with your insurance provider to maximize your benefits. Call us and we will verify your coverage at no cost.

We accept private pay and self-insured individuals. Our team can walk you through payment options. We believe cost should never be the reason a veteran doesn't get help — contact us to discuss your situation confidentially.

Yes. You do not need VA benefits to enroll. We work with veterans regardless of their VA status or discharge type.

Admission Process

Call us at 916-822-4240 — we are available 24/7. Our intake team will ask a few questions about your situation and walk you through next steps. There is no pressure and no obligation. The call is completely confidential.

In many cases we can arrange admission within 24–48 hours of your initial call, depending on availability and your insurance verification.

Absolutely. Use our Refer a Veteran form or call us directly. We will reach out to the veteran on your behalf. Early intervention by a loved one saves lives.

Our intake team will provide a full list when you call. Generally: comfortable clothing for 30–90 days, personal hygiene items, any prescribed medications with documentation, and a valid ID. Leave valuables at home.

During Treatment

Family involvement is an important part of recovery. We encourage family participation at appropriate stages of the program. Our team will advise on visiting schedules and family counseling opportunities.

Yes. Your privacy is protected by federal law (42 CFR Part 2) and HIPAA. We will not share your information without your written consent — not with employers, not with family members you haven't authorized.

Completing treatment is just the beginning. We help connect veterans with ongoing support resources, sober living housing, employment programs, and alumni networks. We do not believe in dropping someone at the door with no plan.

Yes. Our Sober Living program provides transitional housing with structure and peer support for veterans who need a safe environment after residential treatment. Ask our intake team about availability.
